This game came as a huge surprise to me. I'm not a fan of poker so I was ready to dismiss it until I tried the demo on a whim and got hooked. As far as combos, I don't think there is any trick to it other than being fast, accurate, and being able to immediately spot potential combos. I also watched videos of people making huge combos, but it's much harder in practice than in theory. ;)

I think it's hard to unlearn everything I know from Bejeweled style games. I keep doing things like ruining a chaina by accidentally making a full house.

Last time I looked at the leaderboard somebody had a 44x chain. Yikes!

Yeah, the guys at the top of the leaderboard are nuts...

Then again (at least the guys in #1 and #3) worked on the game :)

Does anybody else have a problem with the game locking up? It's happened at least 3 times so far. It likes to happen when I'm on a roll, too. I just got a 7x chain, but I'm stuck at 5x on the leaderboard because it crashed before the game was over.

It locked up on me once, and after I had spent quite a bit of time on it. Since then I've been trying to keep my sessions shorter so I don't lose out on a big chunk of points. :/

Yeah, it locked up for me too the first time I played; just cresting the 5,000 point mark - it locked just after I heard the achievement unlocked sound, around 4x and 5,000 points or something...

A friend reported a similar lockup as well.

I downloaded it, played it for a few minutes, and then dismissed it as a bad Tetris Attack-rip off. Then I read 1UPs review and gave it another chance. And now I can't stop playing =)

It locked up for me once as well. Which is totally unacceptable in a puzzle game. Patch ASAP please!

 

Heh, I just got 1,6 million =) My best combo is still 7x though. And the achievements are glitched.

The only hints I can think of (my best so far is 7x) are:

-Use your bombs as the start of the combo as it counts as one

-Always throw more cards on top whenever you can

- use your slowdown sparingly so it lasts.

 

Anyone else think of any?

A tip for scoring - as the speed increases, start worrying less about chains and more about challenges. Challenge points are multiplied by the speed level, and when you're in the 40-50 range, you can score a 6-figure bonus with some of the 5 card hands.

 

For chains I think you need to stay at least 1-2 moves ahead. I'm trying to break the bad habit of going for combos that require me to toss a piece underneath a card as it's falling, which means I have to wait on the current combo instead of lining up the next one.

Watching the top replays, they're constantly making matches in the middle and pulling in pieces from above on the side columns. If you can balance that right, it looks like the way to go.
