Super Joe to be featured in Bionic Commando remake

Capcom has confirmed that the Bionic Commando Rearmed remake heading for the Xbox Live Arcade will feature Super Joe from the original arcade version. There were very little details surrounding the game outside of the announcement. The remake has been in the news quite a bit over the last few weeks, but this time the news was on the positive side. Just a few weeks ago numerous sources revealed that the Xbox Live version of the remake will feature lower textures because of the 150MB size limit that Microsoft has put on Xbox Live Arcade games.

this is unrelated but
recalling back to the rumored cancellations of Talisman and Alhambra - both are due to the fact that the games GREATLY exceeded the size limitations imposed by Microsoft, and the studios were struggling with where they could tighten their code and scrub out some features. The problem with making an XBLA from an already existing game, is that you really have a hard time scrubbing out features. Alhambra seemed to have a better shot by strictly going with a faithful recreation like Sierra did with Carcassonne, but the Talisman game was being built to incorporate a 'living world map' with all sorts of busy busy atmospheric activities taking place in the game. Rather than issue a true recreation of the game, they opted to shelf the project in favor of other contracted titles.

I think it's really only a matter of time before Microsoft reviews their limit size and makes a few changes. I really expect a 250MB at some point in the next little while.
Personally, it doesn't
Personally, it doesn't bother me one bit if BCR has lower textures than the PSN or any other version. As long as no major features are cut, I'd still pick up the XBLA version over the PSN version just for the leaderboards, achievements, and because I have way more friends on XBLA than on PSN.

I think upping the limit to 150MB was a good idea, but I don't blame MS for capping it. Obviously, more memory doesn't necessarily equal a better game. And there are ways around it anyway, like offering DLC or simply releasing it as a budget retail title. While people had a fit over Lumines Live's pricing scheme, if you like a game enough it's not a bad deal at all. I feel worse about some $5 games I bought than all the $$$ I spent on Lumines. I bought every expansion pack and still feel like I got more than my money's worth.

Oh, and don't forget the last Tomb Raider game. You could buy it at retail, or buy one episode at a time online. If after one or two episodes you've had enough TR, then fine, you're done.

Anyway, sorry for the long rant, but I really think MS's size limit isn't such a big deal. I've been having a ton of fun with N+ lately, and that game is like 20 megs.

Oh yeah, back on topic... I plan on picking up BCR as soon as it's released! Lower textures and all. :)
Doesn't really bug me
Doesn't really bug me either....I remember some weeks ago some random dude posted his first (and only I'm sure) message on here saying we should all contact Microsoft to try and get them to up their cap on game sizes because of things like that, but I could honestly care less....I pay for classic games in all their old-school graphic glory and still enjoy them, I don't need pretty graphics to make the game a must buy for me. I just want something fun to play, and BC will be just that....as much as I sucked at it back in the NES days lol.

I don't know. In this case, no, I don't think it's the end of the world. Particularly because I somehow doubt it'll be that noticable.

However, this is just going to become more and more of a problem as XBLA games get more complex. Even raising it to 250, you could fit one on a 512 MB card. It's not like it was easy to put more than one on the 64MB card as it was, particularly since a LIVE profile takes up 10 MBs. 250 MBs is still a long way away from the size of any demo on LIVE and considering it requires broadband to even access, download speeds aren't the problem.

If anything, I'm more concerned about the potential cut backs in the upcoming Street Fighter II HD title. If people don't start getting concerned about this now, it's just going to become more common.

Wasn't the thing about the new SF taking up too much space due to all the remixed music or so? I'd rather have the newer graphics than new music if I had to choose between either personally.
