Peter over at Isopod has shed some light on the future of Vigilante 8 Arcade on the Xbox 360. Don't worry, this is definitely good news. The posting over at v8arcade.com simply says that they were hoping for an April release, but obviously that fell through. The team is pretty much finished the game and now they're going through pre-certification for Microsoft. The potential release date now for Vigilante 8 Arcade is June. So that might be a little disappointing to some readers, but there is something to turn your frown upside down. There will be downloadable content for the game.
Here's the posting from Peter:
Hey everybody! Peter here, from Isopod.
We’ve been getting a good number of inquiries about our ship date. Many of you want the game finished and on XBLA Marketplace, now! Trust us, so do we! So, here’s the scoop:
We were gunning for April and the game is is pretty much finished — we’re currently tuning, working out bugs, and making sure the game runs well online and complies with a zillion little Microsoft requirements. Though it’s an extremely painstaking and frustrating process at times, it ultimately ensures that the game runs well and takes advantage of all the cool Xbox 360 functionality, like friend invites, rich presence, and so on. With V8 being a full-on multiplayer title, this process gets even more involved, due to all the online-related functionality. (But the game sure rocks online!)
We’ve just finished our pre-certification version for Microsoft, so we’re seeing the light at the end of the tunnel! Should be no more than 2-4 weeks now. Then, it’s up to Activision & Microsoft to find us a release slot. Our best guess is early June, but we’ll keep you all updated.
In the meantime, we’ve just captured a ton of HD video footage for video trailers, and are prepping some neat DLC.
Thanks for your patience & support — the game is turning out great!
-P.

We always hear about how exacting the Microsoft certification process is. Except apparently they don't test such niggling details as whether the achievements unlock (Tikal, Exit, Commanders, to name a few) or if online play works at all (Mr. Driller *Online*). But hey, the title screens are the most solid, bug-free title screens ever!

This is one of the few XBLA titles I'm seriously looking forward to. I hope there's nothing screwy with it when it comes out.
