Triggerheart Leaderboards

Triggerheart Leaderboards

First of all, I love this game. It's one of the most fun shmups I've ever played. I was looking forward to Ikaruga, but after playing Triggerheart, I was reminded of how learning / memorizing Ikaruga's levels felt more like work than fun.

Anyhow, the only problem I have with this game isn't with the core gameplay itself, but with the leaderboards. Apparently only the top 100 scores are even recorded, which wouldn't bother me so much except that it makes it nearly impossible to track your friends' scores. Unless all of your friends are in the top 100, there is no way to see what their scores are at all (unless I'm missing something). The only way I can tell to even see if any of your friends have this game is to systematically go through their gamercards to see if they have any achievements for it.

Oh, also, only hi-scores on NORMAL difficulty show up in the dashboard. I mention this because I ranked in the top 100 on HARD but it doesn't show up. I was in the top 100 on Normal for the first day, but my score doesn't cut it anymore. Guess it's time to practice more. :)

That is both upsetting, and very funny. Who would think the Leaderboards would care about Normal if there is a more difficult setting? lol

I may pick this game up. I played the demo last night. It's enjoyable (even though I definitely sucked at it).

Yeah, the leaderboards are definitely a mess. It's sad, because everyone keeps telling me that shmups is all about scores when I complain about the length of the game. And yeah, while I actually agree with that it just means nothing when you don't have anyone to compare your scores with.

i was number 4 on hard for excellica yesterday, i check back today, and im number 14 i have some work to do

Agreed, the leaderboards are pants. You seemingly can't even scroll through it easily, and as I've yet to rank on the top 100 I can't even see just how much I suck! I only hope Ikaruga isn't like that, as with that I hope to show somewhere on the scoreboard.

Good game though, I like it. Levels are a bit samey and the graphics and sound are pretty shonky, but it's good fun.

Exactly. I don't even care about ranking in the top 100, but I'd like to know how I'm doing relative to my friends.

Since Ikaruga is the more high profile game, I'm hoping that they put more thought / effort into the leaderboards. Regardless of what people thought about Omega Five, its leaderboard is far superior to Trigger Heart's. Especially with the downloadable replays of the top players. No more bad resolution youtube vids! :)
All I know acid is that when

All I know acid is that when I looked you were certainly at the top of my friends list leaderboard :)

the hell? how'd this game

the hell? how'd this game get certified with leaderboards like that? aren't there TCRs for this?

oh well, the game's a lot of fun anyway. it's a good challenge trying to collect enough coins to get the full boss battles.

lol ive been trying all day

lol ive been trying all day to get at least one of my scores to show up on the leaderboard. i thought you had to beat the game without a contune or something.....

I actually kind of assumed

I actually kind of assumed the leaderboards on XBLA games were all based on a standard engine, as most games' menus and scoreboards are pretty much identical - obviously not. It'd be nice if this were changed though. I'm less interested in my global position, and have no friends cool enough to buy a game like this, but I would like to know how I'm doing against myself too, so I can see if I'm getting any better.
