Achievements

I bring you word of a massive XBLA achievement update (the shamlessly stolen headline probably tipped you off, huh?).

Xbox360achievements.org has come through again with achievement details for Hexic 2, Marathon: Durandal, and War World. No pretty pictures to look at, but plenty of interesting things to ponder after the break.

Last week, a couple people (myself included) got a sneak-peek (accidentally) at the achievements for Sensible World of Soccer. They seemed well balanced and all had unique and appropriate pictures (something I think developers rarely spend enough time on designing) so I was glad to get a peek.

However, not everyone can troll their RSS feeds as fast as I can. Luckily, no need to fret if you missed that accidental slip as Xbox360Achievements.org has you covered (as usual). The full list and all the pictures are up now for your perusal (no scores listed yet).

And maybe, just maybe, the release of the achievements is a sign of an imminent soccer themed Wednesday?

DaKing240 has broken the news that our likely addition to XBLA this week is Golden Axe. Not only that, but he has the full achievement list and scores. (Here's the announcement thread at x360a.org.)

Looking through the achievements you can see that local and online co-op will be featured in the game.

I'm listing this as a rumor until we have the official announcement. More details as we get them.

[Update]: As of now, DaKing240 is also listing Sonic the Hedgehog as arriving alongside Golden Axe.

[Update 2]: This is a rumor no longer. Official announcement came out that Sonic and Golden Axe are arriving tonight.

I took some time to finally look over the current state of achievement coverage for unreleased XBLA games over at xbox360achievements.org and here's a summary of what I found:

Xbox360Achievements.org have once again done the impossible in getting their hands on Xbox Live Arcade achievements early. This time they have docked with Wing Commander Arena to load up on all 12 of the achievements for the game. It appears that the achievements may possibly on the easier side of the arcade with the exception of a shoot down 1000 pilots achievement, which should prove time consuming. The "Untouchable" achievement where the player must reach wave 10 without taking any damage may also prove to be quite difficult. With the release of these achievements this week, I wonder if this can be thrown in with the other two titles that according to previous reports were supposed to come out in June (only one week left after all)?

In what should be a surprise to nobody, Xbox360Achievements.org has beaten everyone else to the punch in gathering the Achievements for the upcoming Band of Bugs. Just in case this is the very first post you've ever read at XBLArcade, BoB is one of the most anticipated XBLA titles for us.

X360A.org have gotten their hands on Boom Boom Rocket's achievements list. If you recall BBR will be released very soon - possibly next week. The achievements themselves are based mainly around getting various skill ratings on the songs as has been common with other rythmn games released for the 360.
