Armchair Design: Vote for SSFIITHDR Achievements

Just when you thought it was safe to blog, Capcom starts stoking the fires for their other acronym-inclined (because the title is so damn long) game: Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix (aka SSFIITHDR).

Title, aside, Capcom wants you to head over to their blog and vote on which achievements should make it into the game. The list they have now is actually based on community suggestions that they elicited way back when. Now, after discussing which of the suggested achievements are actually "trackable", they need the community to make the final call.

All you armchair game designers, make your voices heard!

Achievements: Tetris Splash [Update]

DaKing240 got his mits on a "timed-exclusive" list of all the achievements for the upcoming Tetris Splash.

The achievements themselves seem sorta generic. You have your "perform a certain line clearing action" achievements and some achievements for completing marathon mode and a couple online ones. Pretty basic stuff. At least they all seem attainable with a little elbow grease, so I guess that is good, right?

Well, even if the achievements are a bit lackluster, here is something to bring back the Tetris Excitement. Be sure to wrap duct-tape tightly around your head or it might just explode from the sheer insanity of this guy's skills.

[Update]: I decided that video is so cool that I should just embed it for everyone. Enjoy!

Achievements: N+ [Update]

After a long silence, N+ was recently on show at PAX. Besides the obvious vicarious living I was getting looking at photos of people playing the game, there was little solace for myself and those waiting (im)patiently for the game. But that has all changed. Now, I can imagine myself attaining achievements as a ninja "driven not only by a thirst for gold, but also by a physics simulation."

[Section excised]

I guess if I can't have Lode Runner, this might satiate me a bit. I am very curious if co-op will be fun.

Anyone love (or hate) these achievements?

[Update]: At DaKing240's request I am removing the achievement info from this post as his post was removed (thus the broken link).

Achievements: GEON: Emotions

The latest off the wire: Achievements for GEON: Emotions have been uncovered and posted.

Need I say more? Yes? Okay.

Looks like a really great mix of achievements here. I have no idea how hard they will be (5,000,000 points, is that high?) but they all seem doable (which is better than many achievements). Just thinking about getting these achievements brings a tear to my eye. I wonder why?

Achievements: Tron and Streets of Rage 2

A veritable flood of achievement info flows from the spring of X360A.org. Their waterfalls and rushing streams of knowledge have nearly eclipsed the speculation-fueling ebb and flow of the international ratings boards, our friends the ESRB and the USK.

Information competition aside, paddle your way over there and let the achievements for Tron and Streets of Rage 2 simply wash over you.

Achievements: Battlestar Galactica

Daydreaming about slaying some Cylons? Good. Kill 175 of 'em and you'll get an achievement in XBLA's Battlestar Galactica.

Xbox360Achievements has the full skinny on all the achievements for the game. Overall, the list looks nicely balanced between single and multiplayer and between ranked and just "online". But my most favoritest achievement of all has to be the Picon Presidential Commendation: 5,000 kills total - Online Ranked.

...[crickets, crickets]

If you couldn't tell, I am not amused. An achievement that marks progress through a game? Sure. Demonstrates a player's skill (even if it's nearly impossible to attain)? Yes. One that is quirky or viral or outside the norm in some respect? Absolutely. An achievement that merely forces you to grind and adds no fun to the experience whatsoever? Boo designers. Boo.

Week(end) In Review: Tipster Edition

Since I've been horribly backlogged with tips and other stories I thought I'd turn this into a regularly occurring feature. It's an easy way for me to catch up and also harness your collective tipster skillz.

So, here's what's been happening around the XBLA world that I haven't had the chance to share:

Achievements: SPFIITHDR and Spyglass

On the fence about this week's XBLA offerings? If you're an achievement junkie as well, here's some purchasing decision assistance (PDA, but not to be confused with the personal displays that shall remain undiscussed). We were already thoroughly prepared for Marathon: Durandal's release but Xbox360Achievement has the full skinny on Spyglass Board Games.

And just in case seeing just one new set of achievements isn't enough, they also filled in the gaps from their teaser of Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo HD Remix (Capcom must really hate typists and bloggers).

Achievements: Undertow

As per usual, X360A has the honor of a world exclusive unveil of the Undertow achievements. Did we expect any less from our friends over there? Never.

The achievements appear well balanced and there is definitely a carrot dangling for the hardcore: Lord of the Deep. To get that one you'll have to rack up 10,000 kills. Yup, it's official, the insanity that was Gears of War's Seriously... and G.R.A.W.'s Heavyweight has finally made it's way to XBLA. Can't say I'm surprised, but it's a bit much in my opinion.
